Video is becoming THE important ingredient in marketing and curating your social media presence. Zoom meetings are now are common as salt and pepper shakers on your kitchen table.

What exactly do you need to have great Zoom calls, arresting Facebook Live sessions and YouTube submissions?

Answer:

GREAT content!

You can make the worst video ever and it won’t matter if you have something important to say.

Here’s proof.

I teach a content creators’ class every Thursday at eXp Realty University. My goal: to teach the class how to add embed codes to their blogs.

I record all my videos on BombBomb. The platform supplies embed codes. But most people will be getting them from YouTube.

So I recorded a video just so I could upload it to YouTube to get an embed code.

I didn’t write a script. I didn’t rehearse. I didn’t even comb my hair.

I didn’t even put in subtitles (A cardinal sin. Facebook says 80 percent of its users watch videos without sound.)

Since it was done, I put it on my Facebook business page and then boosted the post.

Here are the ah-maz-ing results:

What Equipment Do I Need?

Do you have a cell phone? You are good!

Is there a camera on your desktop, laptop or tablet? You are good!

You do not have to spend a dime on video equipment.

That said, I confess I do use special equipment.

Video Equipment for Your Desktop

I make many of my videos sitting at my desk. This is where I Zoom too.

Here’s what I use.

Video camera. Logitech C310 HD Pro

Samsung Meteor Mic

or the way more expensive

Rode VideoMicro Compac Mic

Mobile Video Equipment for When You Are Out and About

Joby JBO 1502 GorillaPad Tripod. This is my favorite piece of equipment ever. The feet are magnetic so it will stay put. And it has a Bluetooth remote.

Shure MV99 Portable iOS Microphone. Alas, I went over to the dark side and have a Samsung Galaxy phone. So I can’t use this mic. But my Apple friends swear by it….

Pop Voice Upgraded Lavalier Microphone. What I use because it’s the best value for the money.

Rode smartLAV+ Lavalier Microphone. The Tesla of lavalier mics. With Tesla pricing.

Syosin Selfie Stick with Tripod

Keep this equipment in the car or at least by the door so it’s there when you need it. Just sayin’.

Note: every one of these has to work with your computer or phone. So there is a set up learning curve. NOT just plug and play.

Once again, NONE of this is necessary. But they are sure nice to have.
